LWT - The Entertainers

We kick-off with the first incarnation of LWT's 'The Entertainers' series from 1983.

This was designed to hammer home LWT's entertainment expertise, promote its contract celebrities, and, of course, enhance local station identity.

The Entertainers was introduced at the same time as the 3D LWT ident and the end of in-vision continuity.

This series of lively animations backed by upbeat music helped cement the station's new, dynamic look. We have a couple of examples of still slides from The Entertainers on our graphics page.

More from LWT - The Entertainers. In 1985, the series got a fresh look with new animations, though still featuring LWT's local and national on-screen personalities. Left is the full 50-second version and right is the 30-second cut.

The 20-second version is left and a different 30-second Entertainers promo is right.

Another 20-seconder can be found on the left (note the slightly different orchestration of the theme music). And a short 10-second version for continuity announcements is on the right.

The memorable extended Entertainers promotion (above) was beautifully produced. Michael Aspel (left) with a piece-to-camera variation on the Entertainers theme, promoting specific entertainment shows.

Another classic Entertainers promotion, this time featuring an instantly recognisable tune.

And this version had a more serious score to accompany a corporate, newsy version of The Entertainers. This series of promotions ran from 1983 until 1988, in one form or another, so stay tuned for more below.
And the final re-working of the popular Entertainers series of promptions featuring a completely new style of animation and music.
