WELCOME

"This is London Weekend Television, broadcasting from our studios on the South Bank ..."
For 34 glorious years words like this announced London Weekend Television - the sign and the symbol of independent television in the capital at the weekends. As well as producing some of ITV's most popular and lavish programmes, LWT had an extremely strong and high profile local identity. Sadly, the company's owners in October 2002 pulled the plug on this famous on-air brand in favour of a unified, national ITV1 identity across the network.
This site is intended as a tribute to LWT - one of the UK's greatest television stations.

GREAT WEEKENDS

On this site you will be able to re-live those weekends of the golden age of ITV.
We look at the history of London Weekend Television, from its turbulent start in the late 1960s to the golden age as one of the lynchpins of the ITV network.
We have a comprehensive array of presentation graphics, idents, stings, promotions, trailers, continuity, programme slides, programme titles, on both video and stills.
We'll also be leafing through LWT's programme catalogue to study the station's network and local programming from 1968 to the present day.
So remember with us those wonderful London weekends!
