For 34 glorious years words like this announced London Weekend Television
- the sign and the symbol of independent television in the capital at
the weekends. As well as producing some of independent television's most popular and lavish
programmes, London Weekend Television had an extremely strong and high profile local identity in London. Sadly,
LWT's owners in October 2002 scrapped this famous television company name in favour of a unified, national ITV1 identity across the network.
This
site is intended as a tribute to LWT, London Weekend television, one of the UK's greatest television
stations. On
this site you will be able to re-live those weekends of the golden age
of ITV.
