Production Endcaps
Production slides from 1968 - still versions of the London Weekend animated frontcaps.

Three versions of the LWT 'oval' ident production end caption. Is the red slide the result of a colour distortion from the original orange or was it meant to be red?

The first pale orange slide is a video capture taken from a very old tape, so apologies for the poor quality. By 1972, the familiar 'river' variant is in use on endcaps. Thanks to Gareth Randall for the red and blue slides.
Two other variants from the 1970s 'river' ident era, these captured from after Upstairs Downstairs.
This unusual white variant of the LWT production endcap was captured from a Stanley Baxter Show repeat shown a couple of years ago on Channel Five.
london weekend - white endboard
We move into the 1980s with two versions of the standard LWT production endboard.
And here's the version used for Channel Four programmes made by LWT and a presentation endcap used after imported programmes and films.
This version of the LWT production endboard featured on international releases of the station's hit shows, including later repeat runs of Upstairs, Downstairs. Right, the endcap variant used after The Professionals and New Avengers.
By 1986 the version with the white textured background was in use. Variants of this remained well into the 1990s. Several different versions were used until 1996.

A special 'LWT Productions' slide was used from 1993 to 1996, usually before the white 'LWT Production for ITV' endcap.
In 1996 , production end caps were introduced to match the re-brand of the station in that year.
Variants of this design remained in use until 2001.

In 2001, LWT adopted Granada's purple corporate identity for endcaps.
This is a relatively small but representative selection of still slides used by LWT presentation over the years.
